A TALENTED Tavistock College student is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Will Young and Gareth Gates by
becoming the next
Pop Idol.
17-year-old Sarah Riley attended an audition in London yesterday (Wednesday) for the reality TV show, in which young hopefuls sing their hearts out to impress a panel of famously critical judges.
Speaking ahead of her trip to the capital, she said: ?I?m not getting my hopes up, and if I don?t get through it will just be one of those things. I won?t be too upset.
?I?m pretty calm about it at the moment, but I?ll probably be a lot more nervous on the day.?
Sarah?s audition has meant taking time out from her hectic A-Level schedule and her history exam even had to be rearranged, because it clashed with the audition.
She is doing A-levels in law, history, English literature and Italian.
Sarah said she hopes to become a barrister if a career in the music industry does not work out.
Sarah?s previous experience includes performing with the national youth music theatre.
She said: ?I?ve done bits of drama before and I?m always singing around the house, but it?s never been my ambition to be famous.?
