IT is again with complete amazement and frustration that when walking at the river below Peter Tavy that we came across yet another episode of wanton vandalism.

People had obviously stayed overnight in this beautiful spot but left all their rubbish, consisting of empty bottles, aerosols, plastic bags, food wrappers and two new-looking sleeping bags.

We are fortunate to live in such a beautiful area and this is one of the lovely local areas where the community picnics and enjoys the countryside we live in.

Why on earth do people want to ruin this lovely spot and risk injury to people and animals with their discarded rubbish?

I can only presume that these people also see the benefit of such a lovely spot, but why would they then want to trash it?

The goodwill of the land owner presumably allows this area community use, but would he want to continue risking stock and liability?

I would love to understand the motivation for this behaviour. I am sure education from an early age about social responsibility must play a part.

If anyone is missing two new red sleeping bags, this may give a clue to those responsible.
