JUST when I thought things were improving regarding rubbish thrown in the canal, how disappointed I feel again. I work with South West Water, monitoring the rubbish in the canal, and they come along and remove it.
When I first started doing this there was a definite improvement and I was delighted to see that by the BMX bike park there was less rubbish, and the youths using the bin placed in the bike park. What's happening? I notice drink cans and plastic bottles once again in the canal by that area.
I am amazed also to see three traffic cones and a metal protection barrier in the canal. What needless behaviour. It takes time and effort to bring it to the canal and throw it in. Why, can anyone tell me, should anyone want to do this sort of thing?
Do the people concerned realise how difficult it is for someone to have to come and remove it?
We all live in a beautiful town and most of the residents respect what they have here. Why should we have to tolerate the few that don't?
Come on, hold your head up high, be proud and keep your town clean.
I am also a member of the Tidy Tavy Team who are working hard picking up litter thrown down! Please, there are bins provided throughout the town, so use them or take your litter home.
If you would like to join us on a Tidy Tavy Day you will see details on the website http://www.tidytavy.co.uk">www.tidytavy.co.uk
