WHITCHURCH residents Julie Williams and Graham Parker have successfully competed a skydive raising money for charity.
Somersaults, spins and the opportunity to take over control of their parachutes were all part of a high-octane, adrenaline-filled experience of a lifetime.
Jumping from 15,000ft above Dunkeswell Airfield near Honiton, the two friends were raising money for three charities — the Plymouth and District Leukaemia Fund, Muscular Dystrophy and VSO. So far, they have raised over £3,300 with the support of friends, family and colleagues, including nearly £400 from a raffle at the Whitchurch Inn, featuring a print donated by Tavistock Art Gallery as the first prize.
Julie said: ‘The jump was one of the most exciting events of my life. The adrenaline rush was incredible and I’ve still got a grin on my face days later.’
Graham added: ‘I recommend it to anyone. Why did I leave it until I’m in my 70s to do this? I would do it again in a heartbeat.’
Julie and Graham expressed thanks to everyone who supported them so brilliantly.
Graham said: ‘If you would still like to help us raise money for these fantastic charities, Google “JustGiving” and search for Julie and Graham 007. Donating is easy from there on.’
