NORTH Devon Wheelers cycle club has had more success at a national level again this year.
After Ray Retter?s winning ride in the veterans 12 hour national championship last year, this season it was the club?s junior riders turn to shine when they won the team prize in the George Herbert Stancer 10 mile time trial in Yorkshire.
The event which is open to any junior rider still at school underlined the ever improving ability of the clubs junior riders as Pete Vincent finished 9th in 23:29, Matt Yates was 22nd with a time of 24:32 and just three places behind him was Ross MacDonald who posted 24:48.
Their cumulative time of 1:12:49 won them the team prize by 23 seconds from 2nd placed Welwyn Wheelers. In the female event Harriet Whewell also put in a good performance to finish 4th in her class in a time of 31:12.
On Sunday Steve Sage and Pete Vincent were both in action in the last South West district time trial of the season at Buckfastleigh.
In the 10 mile event held by Mid Devon C C both riders were pleased with their times. Steve finished in 22:23 and another good performance by Pete won him the junior category with a time of 22:36.
