THREE members of North Devon Wheelers cycle club took part in the fourth round of the south west cyclo cross series at the Devon and Exeter racecourse on Sunday.

The conditions were a complete contrast to the last event held at the course as the whole course was dry, which made for some fast racing.

For two of the three wheelers it was a case of what might have been in their senior category race, as both Steve Sage and Dave Lugger had problems which certainly affected their final race positions.

Dave?s race was compromised before it had really started, after an untimely puncture mid way through the first lap. He eventually finished 17th after having to stop and repair his flat tyre.

Steve was riding well in a group challenging for 3rd place but he made a mistake on one of the technical sections and crashed, injuring his knee in the process. But with the adrenalin flowing he was soon back on his bike and despite losing several positions in the crash recovered to finish in a fine 6th position.

Lee Bradley?s race was a lot less dramatic than his club mates, at the end of the hour long race he finished two places ahead of Dave in 15th.
