BERE Alston United became the first Devon based side to win the Duchy Premier League title, under manager Paul Blatchford, and at the same time gaining senior status for next season in the Palladium Builders Division One. The second 11, under manager Phil Bentley, gained promotion to division three of the Duchy league as runners up. The end of season presentation evening was held at the Astor Hotel in Plymouth with the award going to: First team player?s player, Dave Hallet; managers player, Adam Reid and Dave Hallet; opponent?s player, Dave Hallet; top goalscorer, Chris Truscott (33); chairman?s trophy, Craig Howells. Second team players player, Paul E Banks; manager?s player, Paul E Banks; top goal scorer, Tom Hatwell. Manager Paul Blatchford thanked John Simpson of Devon County FA for handing out the awards, and all the committee members, supporters and our loyal sponsors who have helped in taking this ambitious club forward. Pre-season friendlies have already been arranged, with the top one being a home match against Plymouth Argyle at Bere Alston on Saturday, July 28.
