BEER connoisseurs and the 1st Zeal Scout Group were among those enjoying a weekend of fun at the South Zeal Big Weekend last week.

Festivities kicked off with the return of the summer ball last Friday, with the sell-out event proving as popular as ever before.

The Zale Fayre took over the Recreation Ground the following day, with a bouncy castle, games from OCRA, and stalls and games to enjoy, including wellie wanging organised by the 1st South Zeal Scouts and won by Tom McGratten.

The South Zeal Beer Festival drew in the crowds too, with a large selection of real ales and ciders alongside a full bar. Fundraisers taking part in the Ten Pub Walk stopped off at the festival to enjoy a tipple as part of their efforts to raise money for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust.

Anyone nursing a hangover was lured back to the festival on Sunday by live music from the Fireblockers.

All the money raised by the Big Weekend will go to the South Zeal Recreation Ground.
