APL Carlsberg South Western League Penzance 1 Tavistock 3 WHAT a difference a few days can make in the life of a football club. One had to go back almost a month when they recorded their last victory and in between they had picked up just one point from a possible twelve. But a little shuffle of the pack and a welcome return from a long lay off through injury to Sean Cann made all the difference. The Magpies went close in the opening stages through Gavin Edwards and Mark George with Dave Hallett doing similar for the Lambs on two occasions. And they opened the scoring 25 minutes when Hallett?s through ball saw Captain, Robert Troon, miss the interception to allow Mark Conday to go on and lift the ball over keeper Craig Nicholls. George brought out the best in keeper Andy Meeds five minutes later to palm away his fierce drive. Moments later the Lambs got their second when John Morris latched onto a through ball to lash it low and wide of Nicholls. The third followed shortly on 32 minutes. Morris was fouled out wide on the right and from the respective free kick Chris Menhenick sent in the ball on target but it was cleared off the line by Darren Ball only to drop in the area for Morris to lash home through a melee of players. The second half was a more even contest as the home side came more into the game with sub Darren Burchell pulling the strings for the home side. But the Lambs could have put the game beyond any doubt. Will Stringer shot wide and James Steer shot over after Conday and Morris combined to set him up before the home side gave themselves a little hope on the hour. The Lambs were guilty of holding onto the ball and got caught in possession just outside the area for Burchell to go forward and shoot low past Meeds in off the far post. Stringer shot wide again with Morris going through, Burchell shot straight at Meeds and Rob Robinson off target for the home side with the Lambs finishing the stronger as Morris's raising shot was just deflected for the stand in striker to be prevented his hat trick. A thoroughly good all round performance from the Lambs that will, hopefully get them back on track. Carlsberg South Western League Tavistock 1 Goonhavern 1 PLAYING at home appears to no advantage to the Lambs as they dropped unexpected points to the new boys who are down near the bottom of the table. The Lambs were without Chris Short and Nigel Pugh was on the bench. In came Stefan Kelly and Gary Williams to the starting line up. From the start they were immediately on the offensive forcing a series of corners and went ahead after 12 minutes. Williams?s through ball out wide allowed Mark Conday to cross low for John Morris to come across the goal and place the ball past Dave Wilton. Alex Arquati volleyed over from close range on 20 minutes with Conday turning and shooting just wide on the half hour. The visitors got themselves back on level terms five minutes prior to the interval. A high through ball allowed Arquati to lob the ball over keeper Andy Meeds for it to creep towards goal and despite the efforts of Kelly he could not prevent it going over the line. The Lambs responded three minutes later when James Steer set up Sean Cann but his shot went straight at Wilton. It was all Tavistock in the second half but the second goal would not come. On the hour from a Williams corner Cann got his head to the ball and appeals that the ball had crossed the line were waived away. Stringer, Steer and Cann all went close and Wilton gained his side a point when he saved a certain goal from a fierce strike from Conday on 80 minutes. Two minutes later he did well to tip away a Stringer effort heading for the top corner of the goal.
