VISITORS to the recent Wharf Talks event were entertained with an illustrated talk about the Battle of Britain.
Stephen Fryer from RAF Harrowbeer at Yelverton gave the interesting talk to an audience of 68 people. The Battle of Britain was fought in the skies over southern England between July 10 and October 31, 1940.
Stephen explained that he had been interested in the Battle of Britain since he was a boy. He outlined the British and German tactics during the battle and how the Luftwaffe planned to defeat the RAF and put Operation Sealion, for the invasion of Britain, into action.
He then showed how the RAF repelled the resulting Luftwaffe attacks.
