WEST Devon chefs have taken the starring roles in a special launch to publicise a new guide to the best eating places in the South West, which took place in Exeter last week. Michael Caines, of the two-Michelin starred Gidleigh Park Hotel, was joined by Masterchef Philip Burgess of the Dartmoor Inn and Arundell Arms at Lifton to produce a course each at the Trencherman?s Guide launch meal. Around 70 chefs and proprietors from the region?s premier restaurants, including Peter Gorton from the Horn of Plenty, Gulworthy, attended the launch of the guide, which focusses on the gastronomic diversity in the South West and includes a range of outlets from luxurious restaurants to traditional pubs. Entries to the guide are on an invitation-only basis, according to Michelin, Which? Good Food and AA Restaurant Guide ratings. Establishments in West Devon and East Cornwall included in the guide are Langmans in Callington; Lewtrenchard Manor; Gidleigh Park; The Horn of Plenty; The Dartmoor Inn, Percy?s Country Hotel and Restaurant and The Arundell Arms.
