WEST Devon Mayor Councillor Terry Pearce gave a warm willkommen to the Wesseling-West Devon twinning group when they attended a borough council reception in Tavistock. The group, which has a total membership in both Germany and England of around 70, was initiated in the early 1980s and members visit either Wesseling or West Devon on alternate years. David Williams, chairman of Club Wesseling, said that both groups needed younger members to join them. He said: 'We really have a wonderful time and forge lasting friendships which continue for years.' Anyone interested in joining the group can call Mr Williams on 01822 840030. Herr Addie Lauer, chairman of Club West Devon, gave Cllr Pearce a plate engraved with the coat of arms of Wesseling and Cllr Pearce presented the group with a painting of the River Tavy. l Above, from left, Herr Addie Lauer, David Williams and Terry Pearce, Mayor of West Devon exchange gifts on behalf of the twin towns.
