A RECENT Ofsted inspection has praised the level of care and the quality of teaching in a West Devon pre-school. Bratton Clovelly Under 5s was established in 1986 and was set up as a play group for children aged 0 to 5. It is now a thriving pre-school. In March 2007 a room within the parish hall was converted into a classroom to meet the needs of the pre-school children. Pre-school secretary, Marcia Bowler, said: 'Staff and parents worked hard to fund-raise and refurbish the room to provide a well equipped classroom to accommodate pre-school aged children. 'They named the room the Tor Room, inspired by the fabulous moorland views from the hall. 'Those involved in the refurbishment have ensured that the room provides a welcoming, safe and stimulating environment in which the children can play and learn.' These thoughts were echoed in an Ofsted inspection that praised the level of care, the quality of teaching and the level of learning provided by the 'experienced' and 'qualified' staff. The Ofsted report found all areas of pre-school provision to be good. To celebrate their achievements, Bratton Clovelly Under 5s will be holding an open day on Saturday March 1 from 10am until noon. This will take place in the Tor Room at Bratton Clovelly parish hall and is an open invitation to all who are interested in seeing the pre-school's facilities. As well as a successful pre-school, Bratton Clovelly Under 5s also organise a popular parent and toddler session on Mondays from 10am until noon. The pre-school can take unaccompanied children from the ages of two and a half to school age. They hold sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings during term time.
