NEW signs have recently been installed outside the Tamar Valley Centre, near Gunnislake, in readiness for the summer season.
Thanks to a grant from 'Discover the Extraordinary', an RDPE-funded Project for the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site, a welcome board and panel, introducing the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Cornish Mining World Heritage Site to visitors, are now sited at the entrance to the centre.
Silvia Lowe, project manager for Discover the Extraordinary, said: 'The Tamar Valley is not just a beautiful backdrop; it has a unique landscape that is as diverse as it is historically important.
'In today's tranquillity, it's hard to imagine the noise from over 100 mines that operated at the height of the Valley's mining boom so we are delighted to be bringing these stories to life at the Tamar Valley Centre.'
The centre is open Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm. Currently on display is a photographic exhibition, running until July 28.
