Cambridge League U18s Plymouth Kolts 2 Tavistock AFC 0 THIS was a bottom of the league match and Tavistock had to play without key players Phillips and Court. Tavistock started well but could not finish and Kolts were not having any luck with Wearing on good form. Francis commanded well and the defence of Marks, Hammond and Gibbons worked hard. Jones chased down everything and Goldsby-West and Scott linked up well. Individually, Tavistock played well but as a unit they were still lacking. A break through with a fast striker saw a delicate Kolts touch slide into the far corner and Tavistock tried hard to fight back. Shortly before half-time, a cracking shot put Kolts 2-0 up. In the second half Tavistock were the better team with Scott pushing up and Wallace taking over as right back. Wellard slotted over to winger and Tavistock battled hard with great one twos and overlaps but Kolts were quick on the break. Scott and Francis cleared off the line to keep Tavistock in the match. Numerous chances were missed and as time ran out Kolts were happy in booting the ball out of touch. Player of the match: Richard Goldsby-West. Tavistock Town U14s 3 Callington U14s 0 TAVISTOCK took on the only team to beat them so far this year and put in a performance that belied their age and league status. The first half by Tavistock was sublime - the passing and movement of the home team was a culmination of a year's hard training. By half time the score was 3-0 with goals from Pridham, Doidge and Hoar, the whole team playing with such vigour and accuracy. But this tempo and accuracy could only last for the first half and Callington deservedly came back in the second period. Resolute defence from Tavistock left them with few chances and no goals. Tavistock still attacked and were unlucky not to score more but there can be no complaints as they stay eleven points ahead of their nearest rivals with six games left in their league campaign. Man of the match: Callum Thompson. Manager's men of the match: Ben Pridham and Phil Wearing. Next game home to Torpoint at Kelly College on February 17. Tavistock Town U12s 6 Pensilva U12s 3 TAVISTOCK took on ten-man Pensilva in what proved to be a tight game. Tavistock found themselves two goals down, only to miss a penalty, but with Aaron Northmore playing exellent football in midfield they were level by half-time with goals from Kieran Alford. Tavistock changed their shape for the second half, scoring four more goals from Sam Hicks, Martin Hoar,Elliott Blatchford, plus one own goal, with the visitors only replying once. Notable performances came from Leonard Raw, Luke Mclung and Harry Eaton. Man of the match: Sam Hicks.
