FELT I had to write to you following an incident last Sunday night at about 10 pm.

We had been to Plymouth to see 'Harry Potter' with our granddaughter and were returning home along the Callington to Tavistock Road.

A car was approaching so my husband dipped his headlights, as the car drew level with us my husband was forced to swerve as a man, walking along the road at the side of us, stuck out his arm to thumb a lift.

He will never know how lucky he was, he nearly didn't see another Christmas!

He was wearing a dark green jacket/coat, not a good idea on dark unlit roads.

So, whoever you are, please think of the heartache you could have caused. Had my husband's reactions not been so good you would now either been seriously injured or dead.

My husband would have been devastated had he hit you.

As it was, it was only us that got the scare, leaving us both shocked and shaken, so, pedestrians beware.

Remember the old saying 'Wear something light at night' and above all be aware that cars can kill. It's not always the car driver at fault!!
