Tavistock 1st 1 North Devon 4 TAVISTOCK hockey players faced a side who was just above them in the league and three points ahead. Unfortunately for Tavistock they went with a severely weakened side through unavailability creating a team with a mixture of abilities. The game started off with Tavistock taking it upfront to North Devon who were expecting a walk in the park. Tavistock battled hard in the midfield and Barrett and Honey linked well with the front two of Reid and Cowen who both created chances to score. But it was not long before Tavistock let slip with some sloppy defending which North Devon capitalized on with two goals in quick succession from short corners. Tavistock then went into the second half with all guns blazing and created some good chances with James Barrett working well down the left side of the pitch and giving good passes for the strikers. A good chance also came for Tavistock at a short corner which rebounded back out to Honey who took the ball wide and took a strong strike at goal which the keeper dramatically saved. Tavistock were soon rewarded for their hard work with a well worked goal by the team which Hawkins slipped into the back of the net. Tavistock started to tire as the game came to a close and through some very sloppy defending North Devon put in another two goals to clinch the match and the three points.
