A PAT on the back has been awarded to West Devon's estate management service in a new report by the local authority watchdog, the Audit Commission.
The commission's best value inspection team gave the service two stars out of a possible three when they judged how well it was serving local people.
The borough's estates management service looks after around 40 commercial premises which are let out to businesses. It also seeks new opportunities for developing land for business use in West Devon.
The commission's report, which went public on Monday, said inspectors were 'impressed' with many aspects of the service.
They found very good relationships had been built up with tenants and the condition of properties good.
To improve the service, the inspectors have made a number of recommendations including development of a tenants' charter.
Cllr Nick Morgan, chairman of the borough's strategic development committee, said: 'Whilst this service is only provided as part of one employee's time, I am delighted that the inspectors received such good feedback from the tenants and the financial management was sound.'
