A MONEY -saving roadshow to help people keep safe, warm and save cash rolled into Princetown last Thursday. Villagers were offered advice on West Devon Borough Council?s Warm Up West Devon grant to help cut back on their heating bills. The scheme, which is currently on offer to all domestic properties in Lydford and Dartmoor Forest parishes, includes other home safety benefits. Free smoke alarms, free low energy light bulbs, door security measures and insulation advice are also included. Many households could save as much as £200 on their fuel bills by installing energy-efficient measures. Loft insulation can cost from as little as £20 and cavity wall insulation starts at £23. In some cases, insulation measures can be free depending on the applicant?s circumstances. West Devon Borough Council has teamed up with West Country Energy Action Trust and other partners to offer the package of measures, brought in as part of the authority?s new private sector housing renewal strategy, which was approved by councillors earlier this year. The grant is being funded through fuel suppliers with additional funding from partners, including West Devon Borough Council, Devon Energy Efficiency Advice Centre (DEEAC), West Devon Care and Repair, West Devon Community Safety Partnership and Devon and Cornwall Police.
