I WAS impressed with the two letters you published on September 27 from Eleanor Flack and Rupert Gude on the reasons why they oppose military action against Iraq.
How, I thought, having read both those letters, could anyone be in doubt that going to war against Iraq would by the wrong course of action to take.
Would that our Prime Minister and President Bush could be so persuaded! They both keep claiming that Iraq is a threat, a threat so serious that a bloody and destructive war must be waged. Yet, neither gives compelling enough reasons to substantiate their claim.
One wonders if there are other reasons that are perceived by our leaders but not shared with us. But why not? North Korea certainly has weapons of mass destruction, yet the USA has recently sent diplomats to that country, not threatened a military attack.
I am perplexed and worried. It is difficult to shake off the feeling that we are being deceived.
