FAMILIES, young people and individuals from the Whiddon parishes and beyond are hoping to come together for a sponsored journey from Chagford to The Children's Hospice at Little Bridge House, near Barnstaple later this year.

The event, which has been organised by members of the Okehampton Deanery, will raise money to make a contribution to children and their families, to share positive and enduring memories together.

Little Bridge House provides life-limited children and their families from across the South West with support in a loving and joyful environment. The support extends into bereavement and beyond for as long as each family needs.

A spokesperson for the organisers of the event, which takes place in September, said: 'We are hoping to go that extra mile for Little Bridge House, which is only 11 percent government-funded.

'We know that all money raised can make the difference to whole families facing life-changing events in their lives.'

The route, which runs from The Square in Chagford, begins on the Two Moors Way and follows the Macmillan Way West/The Tarka Trail to Barnstaple, approximately 70 miles away. The walk will take place on Saturdays and Sundays, approximately 10-miles per day, from September 12 and hopefully finishing on October 4 at Little Bridge House.

Supporters are encouraged to join in for all or part of the journey.
