A GROUP of youngsters from Shebbear College's sixth form took on a walking challenge this week, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The group of friends are being led by Rob Dunn from Dowland to take on the Macmillan Way West walking challenge.
The walk will take them from Castle Cary in Somerset to Barnstaple, covering 112 miles and will involve crossing Exmoor and meeting up with the Tarka Trail.
The group set off on Saturday, August 18, aiming to finish by Tuesday, covering an average of 28 miles a day, carrying their supplies and camping along the route.
The group took on the Two Moors Challenge in 2011 and raised £1,500 for charity, and are aiming to exceed that target this year and raise vital funds for local people affected by cancer.
Rob Dunn said: 'We enjoy taking on the challenge and wanted to do something for a local charity. We hope people we bump into along the route will make donations and support us.'
Macmillan fundraiser Sian Harris said: 'We are so grateful for groups like Rob and his friends for taking on a challenge like this. We rely on people fundraising for us so we can continue our work supporting local people affected by cancer.'
