MORE than 70 dogs went for ‘walkies’ with Margaret Green Animal Rescue (MGAR) at its Wingletang Rescue and Rehoming Centre near Tavistock recently.
The annual sponsored walk event, which helps to raise much-needed funds to care for the 1,300 plus animals that MGAR rescues and re-homes, was as popular as ever, with everyone — including the dogs — having a great time.
Dogs that had been re-homed came back to join in with their new families, along with staff, volunteers and fund raisers to walk an impressive six miles along a picturesque route.
The weary walkers were met with a hot drink and an array of donated cakes and the fantastic news that they had raised more than £2,900 with more to come.
Niki and Alan Ging, centre managers at Wingletang, said: ‘Every year we get such amazing support, but we never take it for granted and want to thank everyone for all they do for our animals.
‘We really couldn’t do it without them.’
