A FIRST-hand experience of the sights and sounds of modern day hill farming via eight free walks on Dartmoor will be available to the public during June and early July.

The walks, at Postbridge and Meavy, were developed by some of the farming families and artists involved in the Focus on Farmers project co-ordinated by Aune Head Arts with Beaford Arts.

Runnage Farm at Postbridge will host 30 minute walks on each Thursday in June.

These walks will be taking in working farmland and open moors as well as delighting in the stunning views of the surrounding forest and tors.

With the prompt of an illustrated guide book walkers can experience the farm through time ? beginning the journey in the modern day yard and ending with a glimpse of farming in another era.

Walks will take place at Greenwell Farm, Meavy in June and July with a journey through the farm?s season from lambing to shearing via live and pre-recorded sounds.

A sound installation by artist Hannah Standen who was in residence at Greenwell in 2003 will reflect on rapidly disappearing farm traditions.
