PEOPLE?can join the Dartmoor Hill Farm Project and farmer Ken Watson for a farm walk and working dog demonstration next week.

The event, on Thursday, August 23, consists of a two-hour walk across Middle Merripit Farm near Postbridge with Ken, hearing about the life of a Dartmoor farmer, enjoying the views from Hartland Tor and seeing livestock, farming systems, habitats and historic features on his traditional hill farm.

The walk will be followed by a demonstration of sheepherding skills using trained working dogs.

The route follows footpaths for some of the way, including a short stretch by the river, but much of it is over open moorland. It covers uneven terrain and is of a strenuous nature so is not suitable for young children or buggies.

Refreshments are not provided so people should bring plenty of water to drink and snacks. It is asked that visitors do not bring dogs, other than assistance dogs.

The event, between 10am and 1pm, is free but booking is essential.
