Duchy Premier St Newlyn East 0 Gunnislake 4 ONCE more Gunnislake were without a number of their regulars with five players missing. The absentees meant that yet again Mark Warwick had a different player alongside him in the centre of defence. Right back Ian Gray was the latest to partner Warwick as he became the fifth man to do so in the last 10 games. With a strong wind in their favour in the opening half it was Saints who territorially had the better of things in the first 15 minutes although they were not given sight of Andy Brenton?s goal. Gunnislake gradually got their football going and were first to create a scoring opportunity when Jarryd Kelly headed on for Andy Wakem to shoot wide. Matt Avery was next to shoot wide before Kelly gave his team the lead. The young striker received a Lee Douglas pass and having shown neat control he shot home. Saints were restricted to a single 20 yard strike that Brenton tipped over the bar. Gunnislake started the second half the better and created and missed a few chances to score before Brenton was forced into action to save low down to his left. Shortly after on 70 minutes Kelly scored his and his team?s second. The visitors then relaxed and played some good football. Leading scorer Kelly completed his hat trick five minutes later when he got on the end of a Gray clearance to score. Gunnislake completed the scoring minutes from the end with a good move involving the three substitutes. Andy Alford found James Burns whose precise forward pass enabled Darren Sambells to neatly finish on the slide. Table toppers St Austell away await Gunnislake this Saturday with a 2.30pm kick off.
