Visitors to the National Trust?s Buckland Abbey will soon be ?talking with ghosts?, well very nearly . . . Mistress Millicent, Agnes, Master James and other characters return to the abbey for the ever popular interpretation event to be held on August 8 and 9. Ranging throughout the historic building, ?Talking with Ghosts? tells the story of the household staff of 1590 looking to the future, following a worrying event during the previous year. For no extra charge visitors of all ages can enjoy wandering through the abbey, listening to the household staff, providing an excellent opportunity for everyone to find out what life would have been like as a working person during the troubled Elizabethan age. Jonathan Cummins, visitor services manager says: ?Talking with Ghosts is a great event to help everyone discover Elizabethan life in Drake?s home and to see lively re-enactors bring history to life.? Now in its third year, the event was dubbed ?Talking with Ghosts? by a watching visitor and the name stuck. The event has been refreshed and revised for this year so repeat visitors will discover something new. So why has Sir Francis Drake been sent to court in London? Will the Leat ever be completed? You?ll need to visit to find out!
