A 1938 Aveling and Porter steamroller and a collection of classic Morgan sports cars will be among the vintage vehicles on display at the Finch Foundry, Sticklepath, this weekend. The ever-popular vintage engine and rural craft rally takes place at the National Trust forge this Saturday, April 23. Also on show will be a magnificent collection of vintage engines and other classic vehicles all displayed on the field at the rear of the foundry from 11am to 4.30pm. Rural skills such as rope making, blacksmithing and willow working will also be demonstrated to the public throughout the day. The well-known Cogs and Wheels Morris Dancers will be performing. Entry to the field is free to the public. Normal admission applies to the foundry. The foundry?s waterwheels will be operating the unique machinery including the massive ?Trip Hammers? ? the last of their kind working in England. Volunteer guides will be present to answer any questions. Finch Foundry is one of the last remaining water-powered forges in the country, still run to give regular demonstrations to the public. The foundry opened in 1814, eventually ceasing trading in 1960. Since then the site has been run as a museum and became part of the National Trust in 1994.
