THE year-long project to purchase a community computer for the village of South Zeal culminated in the official handing over ceremony performed by county councillor Bill Cann recently.
The project was initiated by Devon County Council and supported by the parish council — it will provide a self-financing service available to the community at just £1 for an hour of use.
The computer is based in the tea rooms at The Stores, thanks to the co-operation of the shop owners, Helen and Chris Law.
Now, in an effort to offer free time for young people during the Easter holidays, the project group is hoping to find sponsors willing to donate funds towards the scheme.
Anyone using the sponsored time will be given a card advertising the name of the donor — sponsors who donate a whole day of time (£8) can have their name or business advertised in the Stores if they wish.
Anyone who would like to get involved with the sponsorship scheme should contact Alan Wright on 01837 840560 or Chris Law at The Stores, South Zeal, for more details.
