Luke Turton 16 from Callington a cadet sergeant with 2312(Tavistock)Squadron Air Cadets has completed a gliding scholarship.
He spent a week at RMB Chivenor near Barnstaple, with 624 Squadron VGS, flying in a Vigilant glider.
The Vigilant has an engine for take-off and air cadets are privileged to be able to fly solo in this aircraft at the age of 16.
After many hours of theory and flights in the Vigilant, Luke was able to fly solo to gain his silver wings.
He was presented with his gliding scholarship certificate by Sqn Ldr Phil Newcombe on Remembrance Sunday.
He is pictured receiving his certificate from Sqn Ldr Newcombe with his new wings on his left shoulder.
