A REFINED Victorian ladies? tea party was among the events organised by supporters of Chagford?s open air swimming pool as part of a recent drive to raise more cash. Since April, supporters have been inviting five friends who each pay £5 to attend events as varied as video nights, moorland hikes, drumming lessons or scrabble contests. Each guest then stages their own event and invites another four people, who in turn invite three friends to do likewise. Marion Symes, chair of the pool committee, said: ?We are well on the way to raising £1,000 for the running costs of the pool.? She said the tea party held in Chagford Square had been particularly enjoyable. ?The tea and cake were a treat in themselves, but we also raised £100 with donations from passers by,? she said. Chagford Pool is now open for the summer season. In addition to public swimming, the pool offers children?s holiday swimming courses and kayak training.
