Lewdown seconds v Milton Abbot

FOLLOWING impressive recent victories Lewdown seconds were in confident mood ahead of their home game versus Milton Abbot.

The early loss of Brown did not deter Squire and Skuse from making a positive start. With the ball coming on to the bat, positive shot making was the order of the day for the Lewdown batsmen. Squire 42, Skuse with a fluent 110 and Carl Weeks with 73 were the main contributors to one of Lewdown's highest ever totals of 300 for the loss of seven wickets. When taking the field, skipper Worth asked his bowlers to work hard, bowl with discipline and fire. Devon under 15 player Ben Williams and Rob Squire both bowled exceptionally, restricting Milton Abbot to just 25 after the first 10 overs, for the loss of one wicket. These figures did not reflect the manner in which they dominated the batsmen. Mark Gibbs made the next telling contribution with two wickets in one over and with Cooper, Vernon and Weeks all contributing well, the Milton Abbot innings drifted.

The re-introduction of Ben Williams saw him remove three batsmen with quick and aggressive bowling. Milton Abbot were all out for 119, with Lewdown victors by 181 runs.

Special mention to all the Lewdown fielders who demonstrated constant commitment and energy, chasing down balls, diving around and generally squeezing the game well. Lewdown seconds are creating a vibrant and winning mentality and travel to local rivals Lifton on Saturday.
