THE 30th horticultural show of Lifton Cottage Garden Society and WI took place in the village's church hall on August 4.

Entries were of a high standard in the open and vegetable classes, but in the flower section, particularly the dahlia classes, entries were down, probably due to the poor weather earlier this year.

Entries in the the handicraft classes were much admired, as were those in cookery, floral art and photography. And there was plenty of interest in the children's classes.

President Anthony Phillips introduced Paul Widdows, who presented the prizes and received a buttonhole from Sophie Courtice. Mr Widdows thanked all who entered the show and the committee for organising the event.
