THE new series of concerts for Kelly College Concert Society begins on Wednesday October 8 with entertainment by well-known musical comedy team, Instant Sunshine.

These popular singers, Alan Maryon-Davis, David Barlow and Peter Christie, appeared regularly on BBC Radio 4's Stop the Week and have played at festivals and theatres throughout the UK and abroad. They have recorded over 100 songs and written many signature tunes for radio and TV.

On November 5 the young members of the Phoenix Grove Woodwind Trio will play a range of music, including works by Mozart, Holst and Arnold. Peter Cigleris, clarinet, has performed with South West Sinfonietta and as a soloist at previous Kelly Concerts. Catherine Clayton, oboe is principal cor anglais with the National Musicians Symphony Orchestra and is postgraduate scholar at the Royal College of Music. Claire Cobley, flute, is a member of many chamber music ensembles.

November 26 sees a welcome return by violinist, Peter Fisher and pianist Michael Dussek in a programme including Beethoven's 'Kreutzer sonata', Faure's Sonata in A and the Violin Sonata by Andrew Wilson, director of music at Kelly College.

The first concert of 2004, on January 14, is given by the outstanding 14 year old pianist, Cordelia Williams. She will play works by Beethoven, Brahms, Debussy and Bach.

On February 15 there will be a cello and piano recital by Naomi Williams and Alba Ventura. The concert includes music by C P E Bach, Mendelssohn, Schumann and Prokofiev.

All concerts take place on Wednesdays in the Melvin Hall, Kelly College, Tavistock at 7.45pm. Tickets at the door are £8 (£6 concessions).

Under 18-year-olds, accompanied by an adult, are admitted free. A subscription ticket for the series costs £25 (£20 concessions), and can be bought at the opening concert or from M C J Kirwin, Kelly College, PL19 0HZ.
