GET set to party ? Hatherleigh Festival is geared up to bring you four fantastic days of events to suit all tastes. If you like music, theatre, off-the wall entertainment, workshops and exhibitions this event from Thursday July 8 to Sunday July 11 is a must.

Headline events include an evening of stand up comedy and rock and rock and roll featuring Radio 4 regular Mark Harvey. He will be joined by Chagford?s confused genius Steve Park with music from the multi-talented Stiff Joints.

There will be a performance in the gardens of Hatherleigh Place of Hamlet by Miracle Theatre on Sunday July 11 at 2pm.

By adding a spine tingling score by Jim Carey, a splattering of martial arts, a dash of horror and a generous helping of comedy, The Miracle Theatre have distilled the ?worlds greatest play? into a concise and lethal brew of laughter, tears and revolutionary ideas.

Forget distant memories of boring old school plays, this production will prove that 400 years on, Hamlet?s story of love and madness, revenge and death, indecision and destiny still hits the mark.

In true Miracle style, the play has been adapted for a cast of five and more than half of Shakespeare?s text has been cut to create a version of Hamlet which is crystal clear and genuinely entertaining.

Suitable for regular theatre buffs and families alike, this highly entertaining performance will be set in the gardens of Hatherleigh Place.

On Thursday, July 8 at 7pm there is a Classical Concert featuring Angela Henckel, soprano and harpsichordist, John Marston.

The superb acoustics of Hatherleigh Methodist Church can be appreciated to their full potential, during this exciting concert.

Soprano Angela Henckel studied at the Royal College of Music, she has performed at many major venues including London?s South Bank and in many countries including Japan and Canada. Angela has recorded for Radio 3 and Carlton television.

She is renowned for her beautiful pure tone and brilliant voice control. When applied to the Baroque music of Handel, Vivaldi and Purcell, that accompanying harpsichordist Dr John Marston will play, a stunning concert is ensured. John will also introduce the works, providing an enlightening and unique evening of classical excellence.

Jim MacCool, Performance Poet, takes to the stage on Sunday, July 11 7.30pm.

Inspired by Chaucer's Canterbury Tales Jim MacCool?s Ionan version is related by 21st century seekers of truth walking the Pilgrims Way. Jim?s vivid creations are full of life and vigour and brought to life in brilliant and exuberant style.

Jim is one of Britain?s most popular performance poets, his work intermingling serious subjects with humour and wit.

MacCool epitomises what a performance poet should be: supremely confident, radiating with presence, drilling each word for precise effect and with no nuance or inflection too small for consideration.

The Ionan Tales were premiered at the Sunday Times Literary Festival and have been performed in many venues across the country.

Jim will give the festival a rendition of the Salmon?s Tale, a startling and funny allegory for our troubled times. Jim will also perform a few surprise numbers and there will be an open mic session beforehand.
