Chagford v Clyst St George
IN overcast conditions at Chagford Clyst St George batted first and openers Welsh and Ferro made slow progress against the pace attack of Lammonby and Astley.
Ferro was well caught by wicketkeeper Stuart Lord off Astley for 5 and Welsh and Read soon fell to the accurate Lammonby.
The introduction of skipper Jerry Christophers immediately paid dividends with two wickets in his first over and with another wicket in his third over Clyst were reduced to 46-6.
Then followed a stubborn stand between Dubisson and Weatherhead which advanced the score to 75 when Neal Rowlands replaced the skipper at the town end, and bowled Dubuisson around his legs. Rowlands then dismissed May and Guest for ducks.
Astley returning to the attack bowled last man Knight for another duck to leave Weatherhead 17 not out and Clyst all out for 88.
The wickets were shared with Christopers 3 for 19, Rowlands 3 for 10, Lammonby 2 for 11 and Astley 2 for 25.
Mark Gribble made up for his lack of wickets with three superb slip catches.
In reply Chagford used a different approach with Mark Gribble hitting 3 fours in the first over he faced and then going on to make 41 out the first 60 before being well caught on the boundary, Gordon Lennox went for a duck but Lammonby 15 not out and Patterson 28 not out saw Chagford home to win by 8 wickets in just 17.3 overs.
Ferro 1 for 37 and Chris Cook 1 for 19 took the wickets for Clyst St George.
