A VACANCY has arisen on Okehampton Town Council following the resignation of Cllr Mrs Jayne Hill this week. Cllr Hill has taken the decision to step down from the town council so that she can concentrate on her duties in the forthcoming year ? as the current deputy mayor she is expected to be the next mayor of West Devon. Cllr Hill said: ?What with family, job and council something had to give. I am really sad about it and it took a lot of thought and soul searching before I made my decision.? Cllr Hill will remain a borough councillor for the ward of Okehampton West. A Local Conservative, Cllr Hill is a teacher at Plymouth High School for Girls and lives in Okehampton with her husband and two daughters. The deadline for nominations for the vacancy is Friday, April 1.
