POOR Tavistock. We seem to have planners who are unaware of, or choose to ignore, the rights of residents to be kept informed of proposed plans.
Down Road has suddenly found a coffin-like structure and an additional telegraph pole on the grass verge on the corner of the road. Unsightly and hazardous.
Enquiries have revealed that it is a mobile phone mast and permission was granted two months ago in the absence of any objections.
And why were there no objections? Nobody was aware of the application. Adjacent property owners were not informed and no public notices were displayed.
Quite apart from the advisability of a phone mast in a residential area, it is the manner in which the application was dealt with which alarms me — are future possible controversial applications going to be pushed through with no reference to the general public? Where is democracy?
