SOME 177 runners took part in last weekend's two Hills Race at Chagford.
Now in its 33rd year, the race, which follows a route up Meldon and Nattadon hills and a punishing 1,076 foot climb, was this year raising money for Chagford Carnival.
The event is being resurrected and is due to take place on August 28.
Charlotte Goodwin of Chagford Carnival Committee said: 'The race went really well — we had a very good day.'
In addition to the race itself, there were refreshments, a car boot sale, bouncy castle and duck race at the town's war memorial playing fields.
The race winner was Andrew Vallance, who won in a time of 28mins 34secs.
