Ordulph Taverners v Launceston
THE Ordulph Taverners propelled themselves into the final of the KO Cup on the back of another good batting display against Launceston on Saturday.
Electing to bat first the Ordulph went off like a train despite the early loss of opener Statton.
Daymond, supported by Gliddon, put on a second wickets partnership of 109 in little over 17 overs with good running between the wicket and boundaries to all parts of the ground.
Daymond was eventually run out by a deflection onto the stumps while backing up, but not before scoring a cracking 61.
Gliddon (48) then carried on the run rate until being adjudged lbw just short of the 50.
Launceston then fought back with Christophers taking three wickets in six overs and Lunt and Scott bagging a brace each..
It was too little too late though with the Ordulph middle order picking up the run rate again with Churchill (15) and Bellamy amassing a rapid 30.
Smith also contributed a nice 20 before even his pace between the wickets could not save him as he was run out.
The Ordulph were eventually bowled out for a challenging 236.
Needing more than six an over the Launceston batting never really looked up to the task. Scott (33) looked threatening until being removed by Smith and opener Baker (14) looked settled until an excellent catch by Statton ended his stay at the crease.
Hoskins tried his best with a quick fire 25 but the introduction of Bellamy?s pace to the attack proved too much for him and he perished in Bellamy?s second over.
With Gliddon (1 for 9 off 6) now on at the other end and bowling with miserly accuracy the wickets were starting to fall on a regular basis.
Only Wilson (13) from the Launceston middle order and tail managed to put up any meaningful resistance until he fell to the spin of Reed.
The final Launceston wicket also fell to Reed who finished up with good figures of 3 for 13 off 4.
Bellamy again turned in a good display with 3 for 24 off 7. Launceston ended their innings on 140 all out.
Next week Ordulph visit Whitchurch for a friendly.
