TAVISTOCK Ladies hockey team in this friendly met opposition top of the league below.

The game opened with Tavistock making strong penetrative play in the D. This resulted in the first goal from Judy Smallacombe who swiped the ball in by keeping her stick low.

Sue Cork scored the second by taking a good strike at the keeper.

The midfield play of Becky Wallace, Sharon Jeffery, Lisa Butler and Anna Johnson prevented the opposition from making attacks in the first half.

The third goal came from Gaynor Pollard who was alert to push a rebound ball back into the goal. Smallacombe scored her second of the match from a ball struck into the D by Jeffery. At half-time the score read 4-0 to Tavistock.

Plymouth came out much stronger in the second half and keeper Rebecca Creasy prevented goals from being scored.

Rebecca Hutton worked well as a wing and fed in numerous strikes which allowed Cork to score another goal. Sharon Jeffery scored the last goal of the match.

The team thanked Tavistock men's player Phil Honey for umpiring and congratulated him on passing his Level 1 umpire course.
