TAMAR Valley Methodist Church was filled to capacity on Sunday, when members of various denominations throughout Calstock came together for a united service to inaugurate Christian Unity week.
The service was conducted by the Rev Martyn Smith, superintendent minister of Callington and Gunnislake Methodist Circuit. The sermon was preached by the Rev David Stolton, assistant minister. Lessons were read by Joan Jelley, Methodist; Sylvia Bonsey, Church of England; and Rex Snuggs, Church of England. Clergy from the two denominations administered the communion. The organist was Joan Bose.
Following the service, refreshments were served by members of Tamar Valley Methodist Church. There is a further united service scheduled for Sunday, March 4, this time at the parish church at Calstock. Further joint services are planned.
