Tamar League ORDULPH and their four match unbeaten run was brought down to earth with a thump on Saturday by a strong Milton Abbot side. Milton dominated the game almost from start to finish, even winning the toss. Ordulph were put in to bat and struggled with the lively Milton opening attack of Marker and Williams. In tandem the Milton pair had the Ordulph top order in all manner of bother with four wickets falling in the first 15 overs and only 35 on the board. Out of the top six of the Ordulph order only Chappell offered any resistance the rest falling without scores even reaching double figures. The worrying prospect of a score less than a 100 was staring Ordulph in the face. Riding the storm though Chappell dug in and then started to play some nice strokes to push the Ordulph score along. Chappell now at last was receiving some support in the form of Poppe and then Mills with a couple of rapid knocks of 13. Eventually Chappell fell to Williams caught by Kerswill but not before posting an excellent face saving 61 for the Ordulph. With only 120 on the board it was down to the last Ordulph pair of Baskerville and Lethbridge to add some respectability to the score with an unbeaten stand of 35. Baskerville in particular withstood some intimidating ?short pitched? bowling from Williams to continue supporting Lethbridge who forged a cracking 23 not out. In the end though the initial damage done by the excellent spell from Marker (4 for 25) and Williams (2 for 34) was instrumental in restricting Ordulph to a modest 156. Three wickets also for O?Donnell was testament to his part played in the proceedings. In reply Ordulph started brightly with wickets falling fairly regularly for the first 15 overs to the opening attack of Bridgewater and Mills. Ordulph thoughts were turning to the outside possibility of a victory. Milton had other ideas though with skipper Baxter holding his ground and putting away any bad balls effectively. Eventually he fell though, his stumps being parted by Mills. This however was the start of the end for Ordulph with Williams and Macerlain now at the crease. Macerlain posted a breezy 21 until also being bowled by Mills, and then Jenkins supported Williams who was now starting to open his shoulders. The pair were now fairly punishing the Ordulph bowling despite several bowling changes to try and abate the flow of runs. Williams and Jenkins put on 99 runs in 16 overs to take Milton over the line with 5 overs to spare. Williams finished with a satisfying unbeaten 56 and Jenkins with a nice 35 not out. In the final analysis a score of 156 was never going to be enough for the Ordulph, Marker and Williams could be well pleased with the damage done in their opening spell. Milton Abbot 1st XI won by 6 wickets.
