BERE Ukes, the popular ukulele band based on the Bere Peninsula, is on the look out for a new musical director.
The present incumbent, Mike Grimshaw, has been director since the start of the Ukies in January 2009, when Monica Mitchell, Ann Jeffries and Penny Grimshaw started the group.
Now Mike is moving on to new pastures and the band needs someone to take over the musical direction. The new MD will have a wealth of experience in playing a guitar and/or a ukulele, will have a wide knowledge of chords, tabs, strumming and picking and be able to teach a disparate bunch of enthusiastic strummers.
The band meets in Bere Ferrers church hall at 3pm every Friday afternoon for an hour and a half, so candidates must be able to match this.
The band can play a selection of widely differing songs, but would like to progress further by learning different ways to bring out the best in the player and the instrument. It would be a distinct advantage if the person is able to also improve the singing capabilities of the group.

Any suitable candidates should contact, in the first instance, Monica Mitchell on 01822 841360 or 07706 054146 and leave a message to arrange an informal interview.
