Elm United U14s 1

Tavistock Town U14s 1

TAVISTOCK produced a well disciplined performance in a competitive yet disrupted game that saw two Elm players booked and their supporters spoken to by the referee.

Elm showed how dangerous they could be with their pace in attack and Webber was forced to make the first of some excellent saves. With the battle for central midfield keenly contested the strikers were having to chase long balls down the slope until Hammond passed to Johnson who put in an excellent early cross from the left. Coulston rose between two defenders and headed into the corner of the net.

Tavistock battled to stay in the lead with McCall dropping back to provide cover and Derbyshire outstanding in central defence. Towards the end of a stop-start first half Smith had a well struck shot saved.

Early in the second half Tavistock?s defence was caught napping and Elm equalised. Only Webber?s excellent goalkeeping kept Tavistock in the match as they struggled to re-adjust against the wind.

A clash of heads saw Kelly retire with concussion and Taylor came on at right back.

After Smith went off injured, Doyle came on as substitute with Coulston switching to midfield but neither side could score the winner.

Tavistock stay top of the league.
