AN artist, who is a member of several art groups in West Devon, has been recognised for her work and picked to appear as a contestant on the BBC Two series 'Paul Martin's Handmade Revolution' which aired last week.
Glass artist Nicola Crabb is a member of the art group Drawn to the Valley and and is also involved in the Bank Square Artists Market in Tavistock.
She is currently studying BA (Hons) Glass Degree at Plymouth College of Art, and has won numerous commissions and awards for her craft.
She said: 'Since attending the college my designs have won two commissions to make glass that were presented as awards.
'The first was the 2011 Media and Innovation Awards and the second was the 2011 AoC Gold Award, one of which was presented to British Actor John Hurt, in London.
'In the same year I was awarded with the 2011 Dartington Glass Scholarship Award which was an invaluable scholarship to receive!
'This year I have been awarded the 2012/2013 Dorris Gerrard Scholarship which will aid in my wish to open a small alfresco glass studio, inspired by glass maker and glass furnace designer Ian Hankey, a tutor at Plymouth College of Art.'
