THERE was a welcome return to The Garden House this week when one of the best known names in the television gardening world paid a visit to the award winning attraction in Buckland Monachorum.
Carol Klein, a presenter with the popular BBC 2 series Gardeners' World, came with a crew to capture the beauty of the flowers and fauna in spring.
She is well known for her love for her plants and has an outstanding garden of her own at Glebe Cottage in North Devon; Carol is also an enthusiatic supporter for the splendour of The Garden House, where she is a patron of its golden jubillee appeal.
Aided by head gardener Matt Bishop, Carol focussed on the collection of historic daffodils as well as the many different Erythroniums (dog tooth violets) and primulas. They were also hoping to film the thousands of snakeshead fritillaries in the wild flower meadow section of the gardens.
Carol told the Times that The Garden House was one of her favourite gardens, which she said had developed beautifully over the years.
Carol said: 'The Garden House is full of the most beautiful, beautiful flowers in the most perfect setting you can imagine.
'The whole garden is a credit to Matt and all the people who work there as it truly shows the love they pour into the place.'
Carol's filming at the garden is scheduled to be broadcast on the BBC 2 programme on Friday, April 15.
