FOLLOWING a successful charity tug of war match at Tavistock Rugby Club, the three University of St Mark and St John student organisers were pleased to hand over a hefty check to HeartSWell.

The students chose to support HeartSWell as part of a degree project and managed to raise £1,408.27 for the charity.

Rachel Rainbird, from HeartSWell, said: 'The charity is extremely grateful to the university students for choosing HeartSWell to benefit from their degree project this year. They came up with the idea to organise a tug of war event and were all very committed to ensuring the event was a huge success.

'The event raised £1,408.27, which is an incredible amount and will contribute to our future projects, including the purchase of defibrillators to be placed at various locations in Devon and Cornwall, including GP surgeries and sporting venues.'
