They ended the tournament triumphant having won all eight weight categories, pulling approximately 200 times throughout the contest and emerging undefeated in all weights.
The team have pulled together on and off for some 20 years in various formats, beginning as Tavistock Young Farmers before some members became too old to carry on using that title, with ages now ranging from 18 years to 42 years old.
The team are hoping to compete in the European Championships scheduled to be held in Holland during September. Tavistock have won both the Devon and Far Western Area championships for the last three years.
In order to take part in Holland the team urgently needs sponsorship for a matching tug of war strip – anyone wishing to offer help towards sponsoring these successful local lads and also have the chance to promote their business both in the UK and abroad can contact 'Ferret' on 07769 907484.
Tug of war is not just for men; indeed Tavistock Farmers have an up and coming ladies' team who also took the Ladies' Devon Championship title last year – their very first year of training and competing.
They are looking to recruit more members from the Tavistock area and would welcome any ladies over 18 years of age to join them.
