DID you know that the famous explorer, Sir Edmund Hillary, used Ferguson tractors to help him reach the South Pole in the 1950s?

Recreating the spirit of that marvellous endeavour, the Common Players are using a 1947 Ferguson T20 from the Coldridge Collection to bring their summer show to Lydford on Sunday August 11.

Reluctant hero Taylor has travelled from abroad in a quest to repay the greatest favour anyone can perform. With only his trusty Fergie tractor and his faithful penguin companion Noah, he reaches his destination.

But at Codchester-on-Sea he discovers that his adventures have only just begun. He is destined to endure a myriad of misunderstandings, a cacophony of near catastrophes and a blatantly fixed beauty contest before he succeeds in his search and finds even more than he was looking for . . .

This ideal summer treat can be enjoyed by all in the grounds of Lydford House Hotel. It provides an excellent opportunity for a picnic, a get together, a community event. So come along and join the Common Players for another of their renowned productions.

The show starts at 4pm.
